Kirusa, best known for its work in the Voice SMS world, has announced the world’s first-ever Video SMS product at Mobile World Congress.

Video SMS is the first in a series of 3G initiatives Kirusa is developing as what it calls a logical extension to its flagship Voice SMS offering. This new product is being released in partnership with Tetco-Voxpilot, a specialist in voice/video/data convergence.

The Kirusa Video SMS application is a combination of the 3G technologies available today. The application allows users to send, reply to and forward Video SMS messages. Carriers can offer the application to drive 3G revenue leveraging their existing network infrastructure, according to the company.

Video SMS is a 3G service, based on video calling, and is used to send short video clips. The Video SMS application allows people to send live video via an SMS message.
